3-4-08 Minutes approved as noted

Financial Report

As of 12/31/07 $13,925.00 Estimate as of 4/1/08 $8,500 with $5,000.00 being spent on the office remodel over the past few months.

Church Council

Scott updated the group on the Church Council discission. A task force was created and met over the past month. The CC has created the 'New Vision" for the church direction. Church Council going forward with looking for a full time staff member "Ordained" with overlapping position of Youth & Outreach.

Scott will continue to keep us informed

Solar Power:

Guest: Mark Von Wodtke

Dick Tipping reviewed last years church power consumption. Church used 92,000KWH.
Mark here to present options/statagies for installing solar energey system:
1. Church purchases system-we get higher rebate but do not get tax benefits because of non profit status. Makes for a longer payback on initial investment.

2. Set up a profit entity- people put up money then are entitled to tax rebates. Enter into a power purchase agreement with entity. Investers could be members of Church but not nesessary.

3. Companies exist that are looking for customers to install large systems $250K up. We provide the sun space, enter into a power purchase agreement of around 15-20 years. They own the system, get the depreciation & tax credits and maintain the system. We benefit by lower utility costs vs. Edison.

Recomendation: Set up a subcommittee (Dick 1st, Elizabeth 2nd) to review solar power options. Get others within church involved. Dick will head up committee. Roger, Tim will participate.

Notes: 45Kw system will produce 77,000 kwh of power.
Marks company "Energy Harvester" is capable of
Running models of energy loads, designing a system, setting up a contract, getting design through city and installing systems.

To handle church load somewhere around $400.000 system.

A Office Remodel

Carpet installed in Sharons Office. 3/24. along with cabinets. Need to install new door to replace dutch door.

Edith did receive bids for blinds . Scott has them but not with him at meeting. We will discuss next meeting. (Did not discuss at meeting 4/1/08)

c Estimates Carpet

Narthex Carpet:
Jenny met with one carpet company. Informed that to match what is existing is very expensive. Cannot find documents on last carpet installation around 1992. Jennie to look in to obtaining more bids over next couple months.

Dick motioned/Roger 2nd/all approved to hir Hinoros son at a rate of $15/hr 32 hours/month for painting of ext. doors/ext cross/ beam ends/ facia/and other areas deemed needing work by the board. (Did not discuss 4/1/08)

f Misc Trees

Const is proceding in area behind church. Const. company will be installing 2 trees on our property to block the view of the const from our sanctuary at their expense. Trees will be installed this on March 6/7, 2008. The trees are Australian Stone Pine Trees. (Comment 4/1/08) Trees installed &b locks view of construction. (Did not discuss on 4/1/08)

B Handicap Access in Sanctuary

Still looking for place to store pew before moving.

Curtis collect bid for roof work on round building where current leaks are happening. Monte Rice $2,350. To patch areas of leak. No warranty. Curtis to go back to contractor with question about warranty and a flood test/ or some type of test be performed to guarantee work. (Did not discuss at 4/1/08)

Curtis to contact contractor with additional questions and report back.

Cracked Glass in Narthex

Sharon indicated east facing window (4'x 8') has crack that has grown.

New lighting is much too dark. Motion to add lights not to exceed $500.00

Fan in master bathroom not working. Dick will have Don look into it.

Nursery Pine Trees

On 4/5 Nursery is removing pine tree from play ground. for $700.00 (Dangerous-falling cones) Dick indicated that we would also remove two additional trees not to exceed an additional $700 at church plus som trimming of trees at Parsonage. Motion Tim/Jenny

Joan Roth wants to investigate purchasing new Fridge. Tim H. indicated he has one in his garage that he will donate.
