About The Teacher
Mr. Connor grew up in Orange County in the city of Santa Ana and Orange. He attended El Modena H.S. where he enjoyed playing sports. His favorite sport in high school was basketball where he played on the varsity basketball team helping it achieve the schools first Century League Basketball Championship. Mr. Connor also ran track for El Modena where he competed in the 120 yard high hurdles, 330 low hurdles. After high school he attended Santa Ana Community College before tranfering to Cal Poly Pomona. At Cal Poly he majored and received a bachelor of science degree in Engineering Construction Technology. While at Cal Poly he was a member of the ski club eventually becoming ski club president. Many Friday's were spent on the mountain at Mt. Baldy studying.
During college he began working for General Dynamics in the Facilities/Maintenance Department where he worked until 1989. After leaving GD Mr. Connor began a general contracting construction company. As C R Connor Construction Mr. Connor worked on construction projects for Allied Signal, Arreojet, General Dynamics, McDonnel Douglas, UCLA, Upland USD, Alta Loma SD, Cities of Riverside, San Dimas, & Upland, and the County of San Bernardino. Substantial projects included two court rooms, a fire station, senior citizens center, Los Olivos Housing retrofit, computer and clean rooms. With a recession looming in the state of California in 1992-1994 Mr. Connor decided to give teaching a go.
Mr. Connor began his teaching career in September 1994 taking a teaching position at Upland JHS in the Upland USD where he worked for 12 years before taking a teaching position with Hillside High School also in the Upland USD. At Hillside High Mr. Connor teaches the CAHSEE Algebra Review Class, A Web Design Class and a Construction Class.
Mr. Connor obtianed his teaching credential from La Verne University and a Master of Arts in Educational Technology from Azusa Pacific in 1998.
Mr. Connor enjoys coaching. He has coached basketball at Upland Jr. High and Pomona HS. He also has coached football, track, and soccer teams for the past 30 years. He began coaching track at Santiago JHS in Orange where he was the head coach of the 7/8 and 9th grade teams for two seasons.
