Moc Election held:

In conjunction with the CA. special election held on Nov 5th the students at Hillside High participated in a mock election run by Government teacher Brad Smith. The Daily Bulletin Newspaper interviewed students on the election day and printed a story that appeared in their paper . To see a copy of the news article see the bulletin board in front of Ms. E's office.

A note from the Editor:
This edition of the Talon has been created as the first online student newspaper of Hillside High School. Hillside High School is an alternative high school located in the city of Upland, California. The Talon is entirely run by students. The Talon will be accessible to readers at all times. A Talon staff is being developed to report on whatever happens, as it happens on campus and in our community. Stories will be written and posted as quickly as possible without detracting from writing quality or adherence to journalistic standards.

A Brief History of the Talon.

From what we know the Talon was formerly a newspaper called "The Hawk Talk" and has been around since Hillside High was created some 20 years ago. The Hawk Talks name was changed five years ago to the Talon.. This online version of the Talon is the vision of Mr. Connor who just this October (2005) came to Hillside as the technology teacher. Mr. Connor developed and maintained Upland Junior High's webpage from1998 to 2005, and now wants Hillside High to have a presence on the World Wide Web. As we expands our staff we will increase our mission. This year we are eagerly working on format and content of the site and posting of archived issues. We intend for this online paper to provide a forum for student expression. We also hope to cover major events as they happen, create a variety of articles covering a range of events from movie reviews to information about school and community events.

Up next: Watch for our interactive polls in the next issue.
